What’s the Difference Between a Home and Spa Facial?

Facials not only refresh and balance our skin, they rejuvenate our soul. Our usual routine for skin care at home is generally cleanse, tone and moisturize. At the spa it is all that and more.

The first step is to cleanse away make-up and environmental dirt. By doing this we are able to determine your skin’s needs. It is very important to start the treatment without any contaminants on the skin surface.

Once the skin has been cleansed, a scrub is applied to remove dead skin cells. This leaves the skin softer and able to receive treatment products more readily. It is important to remember if you are using a scrub at home that you use gentle massaging motions.

The manual extraction of blackheads is then performed once the skin has been steamed. Steaming helps open the pores, making the extraction process easier.

Once this is complete, a face and décolleté (neckline, upper chest) message is performed for relaxation. It also helps with circulation which results in healthier skin. A treatment mask is then applied and left on for a period of time.

When the mask is removed toning and moisturizing is essential to finish your facial. An appropriate cream for your skin type will be applied leaving your face well hydrated.

This is an example of a basic deep cleansing facial but we are happy to customize your facial to meet your specific needs! We offer enzyme peels which exfoliate the skin deeper than using just a scrub. It does not leave the skin red or irritated.
