How to Maintain Your Pedicure In Between Appointments

The warmer weather is approaching, which means so is the summer wardrobe!  And within that wardrobe are our long awaited sandals.  Yes, our feet are coming out of hibernation and, quite frankly, we may not be happy with what has emerged.  As we know, our feet take a beating, therefore a little TLC and pampering is in order!

Many of us are very good about making and keeping a monthly pedicure appointment all year long at the salon.  But now that our feet are exposed daily in the nicer weather, we need to keep them fresh and looking their best in between those pedis.  Here are some tips on keeping your feet looking fresh and fabulous!

1. Soak: First things first!  Get your toes in a soothing soak of warm water. Add some soap, Epsom salts or a soothing bath bomb with a lavender scent perhaps.  Relax and enjoy for 5-10 minutes.

2. Scrub: The best way to slough off any dry, dead skin is to properly scrub them with an exfoliant.  Make sure to scrub in a circular motion all over the foot.   And don’t forget between your toes!

3. Smooth: Use a good quality foot file to smooth your heels and any other callous after rinsing off the scrub.   Exfoliating those calloused areas is essential in getting rid of excess dry skin.

4. Moisturize: The best way to lock in moisture is to apply the moisturizer while the skin is still damp.  Towel dry your feet and apply a hydrating foot lotion that contains a fresh, revitalizing scent like peppermint.

5. Polish: If your toe polish is still looking great, swipe the toes with a dry towel and apply a quick drying top coat.  This will help to extend your polish until your next salon visit. If you choose to remove your polish with polish remover, rub some cuticle oil on your cuticles and nails once toes are bare.  This will help with hydration also.

Hopefully these tips and hints have helped you learn some new ways to take care of your feet in between pedicures.  Whether we’re going to the gym, work, or the beach, our feet take us everywhere and they need to look and feel their best!

I want to have a pedicure done, because my feet are in pretty bad shape. It’s nice to know that I can take care of them even after the fact! Having a pedicure done would be the first step to my improved foot health.
