Foot Care – 5 Steps to Getting your Feet Ready for Sandals
Well, it would appear that spring has sprung and it’s that time of year when we start taking off those winter layers and uncover parts of our bodies that have been hidden all winter long. Are your feet ready for sandals? Below are 5 basic steps in proper foot care for you to do yourself.
Having a pedicure is one of the most relaxing, therapeutic treatments you can do for yourself or even better, treat yourself or someone else to! We often forget how important our feet are and yet they hold us up and carry us around all day long; certainly something we take for granted. if you are someone who suffers from foot pain, you know all too well how important it is to take care of your feet. Start with:
1. Soaking your Feet – This helps to soften the nails for trimming, soften callouses for removal and helps to deodorize.
2. Trim Nails – it is really important to keep your toenails at the proper length. Your toenail should not extend past the end of your toe. You can do this with proper toenail clippers or with a nail file. Cut your nails straight across. Do not cut or file down the corners in order prevent painful ingrown toenails.
3. Buff Heals and Ball of Foot – This can be done with a pedi – file. It’s like a large nail file with different grits to help buff down callouses and rough spots on the feet. Callouses that are left untreated can become very large and thick and may even crack. Invest in a decent quality file. It will do a better job and last longer. We carry files here at A Perfect Pinky.
4. Foot Cream – It is a great idea to use foot cream all year long to help keep your feet moisturized and deodorized. Foot cream also helps to improve the overall look and feel of your feet.
5. Polish – While not always necessary, having your toenails polished will certainly make you feel and look like the “Bell of the Ball”. With hundreds of colours on the market today, you can pick something that brightens your mood and shows off those perfectly pedicured feet!!!
